Windmeasurement in complex terrain

Complex terrain such as mountain ranges, hills etc. pose special challenges for the development of wind power projects - as well as for the wind measurement, which is allways the first step to develop a new wind farm. Hard rock may require special anchoring techniques for guyed met masts, ice and snow may call for heated sensors and additional power supply, access to the measurement station (met mast, lidar or sodar) might be restricted or difficult due to ice and snow or steep terrain.

Besides the technical challenges complex terrain also has a strong influences on the air flow - measurement devices and methods have to be chosen very carfully to provide the best quality measurement in these demanding conditions. Windhunter will discuss all these aspects and show special solutions for wind measurement in complex terrain during the conference "Energy of the Alps" on 10/23/2015 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen/Germany. Our Experts will be happy to answer all your questions.
